Irem is a lovely 10-year-old who lives at home with her parents and sisters. The family are Kurdish and follow the Kurdish Alevi religion. A knowledge of the Turkish Language would be advantageous.
Irem has difficulties with the three core areas of development associated with a diagnosis of autism: social communication, social interaction, and flexible imaginative play. Her receptive and expressive language is extremely limited, and she becomes frustrated and annoyed when an adult does not understand her needs. At school, Irem uses a combination of PECs and individual words. However, she has become a lot more verbal over recent months and is able to communicate her needs using single words. She has limited awareness of safety and can sometimes be unpredictable, needing a high level of supervision to keep her safe.
Irem has difficulties using the toilet and needs support with personal care. She enjoys being outside and having a lot of space, particularly going to local parks and trampolining. As Irem’s PA, you would be required to support and assist her in engaging in her chosen activities. Irem loves painting and is quite an artist; she also enjoys music and is a total chocoholic.
Irem attends swimming lessons and enjoys her time in the pool. She would like to visit the Tim Lamb Centre or Alan Shearer Centre with her PA. Irem’s parents would like to employ PAs who have experience of working with children with additional needs and challenging behaviours.
