Seeking a confident and adventurous Personal Care Assistant for a vibrant 36-year-old student teacher who’s anything but ordinary!
I am currently recruiting the final two full time Personal Assistants to complete my amazing care team. Are you the right person, to support me on my own, exciting journey to become a primary school teacher and live an active and meaningful life, despite of my complex health conditions?
I am a student teacher studying a part time PGCE (a prior Biology Graduate) with regular placements in local schools each week. You will be required to assist me physically – but not to be my voice… or my brain!
This position offers fun, the challenge of learning new skills, attending many adventures together and hopefully having lots of giggles along the way!
Your role will include cooking nutritious (allergy / intolerance friendly) meals daily, providing both complex medical and personal care, and enabling me to embrace an active social life (accompanying me to the cinema / live music concerts / theatre trips and nights out to bars in Newcastle).
You must be able to use your initiative and the training provided to work alongside me and my team, to assist me safely during your lone working shifts. Whilst also fitting seamlessly into my life and routines – both at home and whilst in school. This involves supporting me to live as independently as possible, in my own home- a bungalow in Cramlington, and being on hand in the sidelines, discretely whilst at school for if / when a medical / care need arises.
I’m looking to complete my team of 5 dedicated PA’s, to provide high quality, around the clock 24 hour, 1-1 support.
The shift patterns include a mixture (of 12 hour), day shifts and waking overnight shifts. This includes regular weekend shifts, with roughly one long weekend off / month (see example shift patterns below).
So, if you’re a quick learner with boundless energy, have a bright and bubbly personality and can both use your own initiative and follow instructions and directions (& meet the following criteria) …. let’s chat!
Essential
- Driver: must safely drive my adapted automatic Mercedes Sprinter Van 🚐
- Non-smoker 🚭
- No perfume or aftershave can be worn (due to life threatening allergy)
- Female, with previous physical care experience 👩🦽
- (Minimum 1 year experience providing physical care)
Note: long / false nails, rings / watches & perfume / aftershave cannot be worn on shift due to my Asthma / allergies and fragile skin. This is a non‑negotiable aspect of the job due to health needs.
I can’t wait to meet you! 🌟
EXAMPLE SHIFT PATTERNS (36 hour a week contract)
- Week 1 : Tuesday & Wednesday nightshift (20:00 – 08:00)
Saturday dayshift (08:00 – 20:00) - Week 2 : Monday & Tuesday dayshift (08:00 – 20:00)
Saturday nightshift (20:00 – 08:00) - Week 3 : Thursday & Friday nightshift (08:00 – 20:00)
