Directive Finance is an award-winning, modern and fast-growing accountancy practice based in Wallingford, South Oxfordshire. The Role

You will own your own portfolio of small business clients and take responsibility for ensuring their bookkeeping is complete, accurate, and ready for management reporting and year-end delivery. You will work closely with the founder and our Practice Accountant, with clear processes in place, but full autonomy in managing your clients day to day.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Managing a portfolio of clients
  • Bookkeeping through to trial balance
  • Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
  • Raising queries directly with clients and proactively chasing missing records
  • Reconciling bank, control, and balance sheet accounts
  • Supporting management accounts preparation
  • Identifying inefficiencies and suggesting improvements in client systems
  • Supporting smooth year-end handovers

You’ll be trusted to own your work and manage your time effectively.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice
  • Experience managing multiple clients simultaneously
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero (certification beneficial)
  • Confident preparing VAT returns and working to trial balance
  • Comfortable communicating directly with business owners
  • AAT Level 3+ or qualified by experience
