About Us
We are representing a well-established and growing manufacturing and distribution business supplying customers across the UK. With a reputation for quality, reliability and exceptional customer service, we are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead our finance function and play a key role in supporting the continued growth of the business. This is a hands-on role that requires a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the business while providing strategic financial insight to support business decisions. Key responsibilities include:
- Producing accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Preparing budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Managing the month-end and year-end close process.
- Overseeing sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll and credit control.
- Managing stock valuation, inventory reporting and cost analysis.
- Developing product costing and margin analysis to support profitability.
- Monitoring KPIs and providing meaningful financial analysis to senior management.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory reporting, VAT, Corporation Tax and audit requirements.
- Managing relationships with banks, auditors and external advisers.
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial controls, systems and business processes.
- Leading, mentoring and developing the finance team.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting skills with commercial awareness and the ability to influence business decisions. You'll ideally have:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or qualified by experience with significant relevant experience).
- Previous Finance Manager experience within manufacturing, distribution or a similar operational business.
- Strong knowledge of management accounting, budgeting and cash flow management.
- Experience with stock accounting, inventory management and product costing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP/accounting systems.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to thrive in a busy environment.
