Description

Personal Assistant required to support a young man who is registered blind and participates in sporting/fitness events in the community, as well as with his weekly shopping. The role also involves correspondence, attending appointments, and ensuring his safety and well‑being.

The working days and hours are flexible. A typical week might include:

  • Tuesday – transport to Boxing Club in Aylesford (4 mi) from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.
  • Wednesday – transport to local supermarket and assistance with shopping from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
  • Thursday – transport to Maidstone for lunch/drink/gym/social interaction from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Other duties include:

  • Assisting with correspondence.
  • Checking client’s well‑being and support needs.
  • Ensuring his flat is clean and safe.

Requirements

  • Clean driving licence and a suitable vehicle with insurance for business use.
  • Previous experience or training in care work is an advantage but not essential; training will be provided.
  • Ability to develop a caring relationship with a person with a disability.
  • Interest in sport/fitness and willingness to offer encouragement and occasional guidance to a person with visual impairment.
  • Monthly mileage/expense invoices and holiday log required.
  • Suitable references required.
  • Enhanced DBS – cost covered by employer.
