A little about myself: I am a four-year-old little boy with Autism and Pica behaviours. I like to jump, bounce, climb, swim and run around. I really love the water, so swimming is one of my favourites. I love Buzz trampoline park, soft play and gymnastics. I need a kind, patient, and fast-on-their-feet Personal Assistant (PA) to take me out to have fun where I can be safe. I also love to go on drives where I can look out at the people and places, and daydream. I particularly like the beach and the sea. I have no awareness of danger, so you will need to always hold my hand unless we are in a safe, secure area. Driver required to take me out.

Hours of work: 4 hours per week during school holidays.

Rate of pay: £13.13.

Essential:
  • You must be fast‑on‑your‑feet, and able to keep up with me, because I am oblivious to danger, and quite impulsive.
  • You must be patient and kind.
  • You must be experienced in working with young people who have Autism and Pica.
Desirable:
  • I’d prefer if you are trained in first aid.

I’d like support with going out in the community.

I will need my PA to:

  • Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality.
  • Be confident, mature and have patience.
  • Be dependable and arrive on time.
  • Be friendly with an easy‑going manner.
  • Be adaptable and flexible.
  • Be supportive but not take over.
  • Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.

Concerning the position: A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six‑month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
