A little about myself: I am a lively 5-year-old living in Swansea with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I’m looking for a kind, patient, and enthusiastic Personal Assistant who can help me explore the world safely, whilst having lots of fun. I don’t always understand danger, so I need an adult who can keep me safe when we’re out and about. I am happiest when I’m playing, whether that’s roleplay, building things, visiting shops, enjoying soft-play, or relaxing in cafés. I especially love Peppa Pig! I can clearly communicate my needs, wishes, and feelings, so you’ll always know how I’m doing.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children, loves play, and wants to make a real difference in helping me grow, discover, and enjoy life securely and happily.

  • Driver required to take me out.
  • Male / female preferred - No preference, just someone who can keep me safe and play in my world.
  • Hours: 10 hours per week x 13 weeks (school holidays)
  • My family are flexible regarding hours and days.
  • Start date: As soon as possible.
  • Rate of pay: £13.13

Essential:

  • Help me have fun, be creative, and playful;
  • Be physically fit and able to run - I’m fast and love to move!
  • Be vigilant and aware of your surroundings - I need someone who’s always looking out for me;
  • Be experienced with children like me - especially those with Autism;
  • Drive, to be able to take me out;
  • Be kind and patient.

I’d like support with my toileting needs.

I will need my PA to:

  • Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality;
  • Be confident, mature and have patience;
  • Be dependable and arrive on time;
  • Be friendly with an easy-going manner;
  • Be adaptable and flexible;
  • Be supportive but not take over;
  • Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.

Concerning the position:

  • A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period.
  • Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis).
  • A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
