A little about myself: I’m 8 years old, and I have Autism (ASD) and a Learning Disability (LD). I’m also on the pathway for ADHD. I don’t use words to talk, but I show you what I need through my actions. I’m strong, busy, full of energy, and I love being outside! I need someone to help me explore the world safely. I don’t always understand danger, so I need an adult who can keep me safe when we’re out and about.
Driver required to take me out. Male preferred.
Hours of work:
- 4 hours per week on a weekend
- 10 hours per week during school holidays (Flexible days and times)
Rate of pay: £13.13
Essential:
- Take me out into the community and help me explore safely;
- Understand my sensory needs and help me enjoy the things I love;
- Be patient when I get fixated on something — it’s part of how I experience the world;
- Help me have fun while keeping me safe.

- You are physically fit and able to run - I’m fast and love to move!
- Are vigilant and aware of your surroundings - I need someone who’s always looking out for me;
- You are experienced with children like me - especially those with Autism and Learning Disabilities;
- You are creative and playful;
- You are kind and patient - I need someone who understands me, even when I don’t use words.
I’d like support with:
- Going out in the community.
I will need my PA to:
- Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality;
- Be confident, mature and have patience;
- Be dependable and arrive on time;
- Be friendly with an easy-going manner;
- Be adaptable and flexible;
- Be supportive but not take over;
- Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.
Concerning the position:
- A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period.
- Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis).
- A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
