Principal duties and responsibilities
- Providing for the personal care needs of the employer, such as washing and toileting.
- Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence.
- Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community.
- Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest.
- Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills.
- Providing companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation and providing them with social interaction.
- Encouraging the employer to attend appointments.
- Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during working hours.
- Carrying out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer during working hours.
- Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- Being mindful of safeguarding issues and reporting any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately at 01267 228751.
- Being responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

- Ability to develop a supportive and caring relationship with the employer.
- Undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Ability to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.
