Personal Assistant – 69‑year‑old Male
Salary: £14.00 per hour. 18 hours per week with 71 miles per week at £0.45 per mile.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the individual to/from Parc Y Bocs on Tuesday mornings for the weekly ‘Butterfly effect’ meetings.
- Support the individual in keeping a memory diary of contacts and activities.
- Encourage participation in stimulating activities that make use of his skills and interests, including community engagement.
- Assist with swimming, attending the local men’s shed group, visiting art galleries, museums, theatre, the beach and other places of interest.
- Encourage interest in woodwork, art, gardening, and new challenge activities for mental and physical stimulation.
- Manage small amounts of money for shopping if desired.
- Help with loading and unloading the mobility scooter from the car.
- Offer companionship, reassurance and emotional support, especially when anxious or in challenging social situations.
- Assist with meal preparation, including preparing vegetables, ingredients and baking.
- Work flexibly with a schedule that adapts to planned activities, with unused hours bankable for future use.
- Provide indirect support to the employer who requires regular breaks and personal time.
- Encourage the employer to gain independence, interact socially and develop independent living skills.
- Provide companionship and social interaction within the employer’s home.
- Ensure the employer’s safety at all times during working hours.
- Carry out any additional reasonable tasks requested by the employer.
- Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act.
