The predicted salary is between 60000 - 80000 £ per year.

The RVH have a requirement for a Locum consultant in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine (for a period of up to 3 months initially – pending Trust recruitment), commencing August 2026.

Responsibilities

  • General gastroenterology outpatient clinics (x2 per week)
  • Mixed endoscopy sessions (x2 per week)
  • Inpatient cover of general medical patients including acute medical take cover (1 in 6)
  • Out of hours cover for general medicine (1 in 7)
  • Inpatient gastroenterology consults in MIH (1 in 4)

Essential Criteria

  • Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians United Kingdom /Ireland or equivalent qualification / training
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview date), CESR or European Community Rights
  • At least 1 year of experience working at consultant level in the NHS in a consultant post in Gastroenterology
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council with a License to Practice in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine
  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
  • Communication, reasoning and team-working skills to be demonstrated on application and at interview.
  • Full JAG Certification (or equivalent) in both Upper GI Endoscopy and Colonoscopy
  • Access to a means of transport to facilitate movement between sites
  • Eligibility to work in the UK as per UK Visa and Immigration Regulations.
