We are seeking an experienced and values-led Group Director of Governance, Risk and Quality to lead governance excellence across the 1-Experience Group. This leadership role will be responsible for developing integrated governance, risk and assurance frameworks that support quality, safety, resilience and sustainable growth across the geographical markets in which the Group operates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Lead the development and implementation of the Group Governance, Risk and Quality Strategy.
    • Provide strategic advice and assurance to the Board and Executive Leadership Team on governance, quality, risk, safeguarding and regulatory matters.
    • Develop integrated governance, risk and organisational assurance frameworks that support sustainable growth across workforce, training and wellbeing services.
    • Lead the continued development of governance, quality, safeguarding, ESG and organisational assurance functions across the Group.
  • Governance, Quality and Risk
    • Lead governance, quality, risk and assurance frameworks across all Group services and operations.
    • Establish robust assurance systems, governance structures and reporting mechanisms. Ensure organisational readiness for inspections, audits and external reviews.
    • Oversee compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory standards and sector-specific requirements across the geographical markets in which the Group operates.
    • Develop and oversee the Group Risk Management Framework, including organisational risk identification, mitigation and escalation processes.
    • Ensure robust arrangements are in place for safeguarding, incident management, business continuity and resilience.
    • Monitor governance, quality and risk data to identify trends, risks, learning opportunities and areas for continuous improvement.
    • Drive continuous improvement across governance, quality, safety, wellbeing and resilience systems.
  • Clinical Governance and Quality
    • Lead the development of strong clinical and operational governance systems across healthcare workforce and care-related services.
    • Provide strategic oversight of clinical governance, quality and patient/service-user safety frameworks across the Group.
    • Provide strategic leadership on safeguarding, quality and safety matters across the Group.
    • Oversee governance arrangements relating to workforce quality, competency, appraisal, revalidation, training, professional standards and clinical oversight.
    • Support the development of governance nursing, safeguarding, quality improvement and practice development functions.
    • Promote person-centred, rights-based and outcome-focused approaches across services.
  • Information Governance, Compliance and ESG
    • Oversee governance relating to information security, data protection and organisational compliance.
    • Lead the continued development and strategic expansion of integrated management systems, organisational assurance frameworks, accreditation programmes and governance standards across the Group.
    • Provide strategic oversight of ESG, sustainability and organisational resilience initiatives.
    • Work collaboratively with operational and technology teams to strengthen information governance, assurance and resilience capabilities across the Group.
  • Leadership and Culture
    • Lead, mentor and develop governance, quality and compliance teams across the Group. Provide leadership and strategic oversight across governance, compliance, quality, ESG and governance nursing functions across the Group.
    • Build trusted and collaborative relationships across operational, clinical and corporate functions.
    • Foster a culture focused on learning, psychological safety, improvement and excellence.
    • Promote ethical, compassionate and psychologically safe leadership practices across the organisation.

Essential Criteria

  • Registered healthcare or social care professional with a diploma, degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant health or social care discipline.
  • Significant senior leadership experience within healthcare environments.
  • Demonstrable experience leading quality, governance, risk or assurance functions within complex organisations.
  • Experience operating across multi-service or multi-site organisations.
  • Experience working across multiple healthcare jurisdictions or regulatory environments.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, safeguarding, quality assurance and organisational risk management frameworks.
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies, inspections, audits and organisational assurance processes.
  • Knowledge of healthcare workforce, staffing and workforce governance sectors.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel as required.

  • Experience supporting organisational growth, transformation or innovation programmes.
  • Experience supporting international growth or expansion initiatives.
