The RVH have a requirement for a Locum consultant in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine (for a period of up to 3 months initially – pending Trust recruitment), commencing August 2026.
Duties to include:
- General gastroenterology outpatient clinics (x2 per week)
- Mixed endoscopy sessions (x2 per week)
- Inpatient cover of general medical patients including acute medical take cover (1 in 6)
- Out of hours cover for general medicine (1 in 7)
- Inpatient gastroenterology consults in MIH (1 in 4)
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians United Kingdom /Ireland or equivalent qualification / training
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview date), CESR or European Community Rights
- At least 1 year’s experience working at consultant level in the NHS in a consultant post in Gastroenterology
- Have full registration with the General Medical Council with a License to Practice in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine
- All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
- Communication, reasoning and team-working skills to be demonstrated on application and at interview.
- Full JAG Certification (or equivalent) in both Upper GI Endoscopy and Colonoscopy
- Must have access to a means of transport to facilitate movement between sites
- Eligibility to work in the UK as per UK Visa and Immigration Regulations.
