About the Role: As a Registered Adult Nurse working within prison healthcare services, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals in custody. You will provide comprehensive primary care to a diverse and often complex patient population, ensuring equitable access to healthcare services equivalent to those available in the wider community.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care to patients within the prison setting
- Undertake clinical assessments, triage, and care planning
- Provide primary care services, including health promotion, screening, and chronic disease management
- Administer medications and treatments in line with professional guidelines
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including GPs, mental health professionals, and custodial staff
- Respond to medical emergencies within the establishment
- Maintain accurate, confidential patient records
Requirements:
- Registered Adult Nurse (RGN) with a valid registration (NMC)
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A non-judgmental, compassionate approach to care
- 6 months experience working within NHS in UK is essential
- Experience in primary care, emergency care, or secure settings is desirable but not essential
