Blackwell & Co Master Butchers & Curers, known as Direct Meats, are a quality-focused wholesale butcher and bakery dedicated to producing exceptional savoury and sweet pastries, baked goods, and artisan products. We pride ourselves on craftsmanship, creativity, and consistency at medium to large volumes. We are now looking for a skilled pastry maker / baker to join our team and help elevate and assist with the growing production line with new innovative and expanding products.
Role Overview
As our professional pastry maker / baker, you will be responsible for creating high-quality savoury and sweet pastries and baked goods including pies, sausage rolls, and speciality goods. You will assist and oversee the production of different pastry, maintain standards, and contribute to developing new recipes and seasonal items.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce pastry and key bakery items to a consistently high standard
- Manage daily preparation and baking schedules
- Maintain hygiene, food safety, and kitchen cleanliness
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering
- Work efficiently during busy production periods
- Collaborate with the wider bakery team and other teams
- Run the pastry production line with and other manufacturing machinery; training will be provided
- Assist with managing and supervising the growing bakery team
About You
- Proven experience as a pastry chef or baker
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, doughs, lamination, and desserts
- Good understanding of food safety standards
- Creative, organised, and detail-focused
- Able to work early mornings and in a fast-paced environment
- A team player with a passion for great food
