Physically disabled female in her early 30s requires a personal assistant to:
Support and encourage her with gaining independence and enable her to interact socially within her community.
Support and encourage her with activities of interest to her, such as crafts and visiting places with animals.
Provide companionship and build a rapport with her.
Ensure her safety at all times during your working period, including when pushing her wheelchair.
Principal duties and responsibilities:

Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence .

Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community.

Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest

Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills

To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction

Encouraging the employer to attend appointments

Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours

To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours

To ensure compliance with Data Protection Act.

Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately on (01267 228751)

Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is likely to be required. This is determined by the needs of the employer and whether you live within walking distance.

You must be prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours
In addition, all Personal Assistants must have business insurance on their car insurance, a current MOT and vehicle tax if they use their own cars to transport Service User or use their own vehicle to carry out tasks on behalf of SU, failure to do so may render the PA as uninsured if they are stopped by the police or involved in an accident. It is your responsibility to check that they have a driver’s license and all required documentation. It is also your responsibility to ensure that your PA’s hours are submitted in a timely manner via the portal or timesheet provided by the Local Authority, we will be unable to process payment should the hours not be submitted on time.
