Overview

DLG is evolving. Across every part of our business, teams are embracing new opportunities and putting customers at the heart of everything they do. Whether you\’re already part of DLG or thinking about joining us, you\’ll have the chance not only to be recognised for your skills, but also to build on them and be empowered to do your very best.

At Direct Line, we know our customers expect simple, brilliant experiences, and to get there we need to keep challenging how we work. That means thinking bigger than frameworks or ceremonies – and going right to the heart of how our organisation learns, adapts, and delivers value.

Role

We’re looking for an Enterprise Agile Coach who can bring deep systems thinking expertise alongside agile transformation know-how, to help us shift at scale. The role is a 12 month fixed term contract – with 2 main lenses:

  • Enterprise transformation – designing and leading systems thinking interventions that help us reduce waste, increase efficiency, and ultimately deliver stronger commercial and customer outcomes.
  • Delivery & continuous improvement – supporting and stretching our community of 20+ Scrum Masters to embed learning, sharpen practice, and continuously improve and drive transformation on an enterprise/organisation-wide level.

You’ll join our Agile Centre of Expertise (CoE) within the Delivery and Transformation function, reporting into our Head of Agile CoE – alongside two Chapter Leads and fellow Enterprise Coaches. As we evolve, so will the role – and we’d love you to help shape what comes next. This is a role with real scope to shape how DLG thinks and works – with direct impact to our millions of customers. You’ll be coaching and working with senior leaders and execs, influencing how we make decisions and be empowered to experiment, learn, and lead change that sticks.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing and leading systems interventions across the enterprise, helping leaders see the bigger picture, spot patterns, and act on leverage points that really shift outcomes.
  • Coaching and training senior leaders to apply systems thinking to real-world challenges, supporting better decision-making and stronger alignment to customer and commercial goals.
  • Facilitating leadership workshops and forums that uncover interdependencies, feedback loops, and opportunities to reduce failure demand and inefficiency.
  • Partnering with our Sales and Service Operations and Claims Teams to embed systems thinking into leadership development and operating models.
  • Modelling through data – using system maps, data, and lead/lag measures to drive insights, learning, and measurable improvement.
  • Being a trusted thought partner to executives, helping them navigate complexity, lead adaptively, and foster a culture of reflection and learning.
  • Coaching and mentoring our Scrum Masters so they’re equipped to step up into Chapter Lead roles as our ways of working mature.

What You’ll Need

  • Proven expertise in systems thinking – with a track record of designing and leading interventions that deliver real organisational impact, coupled with experience in delivering outcomes.
  • Experience working within the general insurance industry (direct to consumer) – with a strong understanding of customer and business processes (e.g. Sales and Service, Claims)
  • Experience coaching senior leaders and executives in complex, large-scale environments.
  • Strong facilitation and intervention design skills, able to influence at enterprise level.
  • Familiarity with frameworks like Cynefin, Theory of Constraints, Systems Mapping (and an ability to know when and how to use them).
  • Data literacy and storytelling ability, to make the invisible visible and inspire action.
  • Credible qualifications (ICP-ENT, ICP-CAT, systems thinking training) are advantageous but not required.
  • Above all, a mindset that sees beyond teams to the wider system – and the courage to challenge, coach, and enable leaders at every level.

  • 9% employer contributed pension – which you can opt out to take as a cash, taxable, benefit
  • 50% off home, motor and pet insurance plus free Green Flag breakdown cover
  • Annual performance related bonus – of upto 20%, dependent on personal and company performance
