RTA Claims Technical Lead – Qualified Solicitor
Leeds
Permanent

DLG is evolving. Across every part of our business, teams are embracing new opportunities and putting customers at the heart of everything they do. Whether you're already part of DLG or thinking about joining us, you'll have the chance not only to be recognised for your skills, but also to build on them and be empowered to do your very best.

What you'll be doing:

To provide technical legal supervision and support to a team of claimant personal injury claims handlers delivering legal services to DLG Legal Services clients, ensuring the provision of accurate, high-quality, and compliant advice, and supporting the professional development of the team through technical coaching and the dissemination of specialist knowledge.

  • Work collaboratively and flexibly with other Technical Leads to provide technical support and supervision across your function to ensure the provision of a high-quality and compliant service.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on relevant areas of law, applying legal knowledge and experience to help fellow team members deal with novel and/or complex situations.

  • Input into the management and development of fellow team members' performance regarding the quality and compliance of their work and on their technical knowledge and development.

  • Guiding and supporting junior members of the team and reviewing and signing off on legal documents.

  • Contribute to the proactive management of risk across the function, with a particular focus on those risks associated with standards of legal practice and regulatory compliance.

  • Leading on the issuing of files and completing audits for the wider team.

  • Our hybrid model offers a ‘best of both worlds’ approach. When you’ll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 50% of their time in the office.

What you’ll need:

  • Qualified Solicitor with extensive knowledge of accurate drafting of court documents, applications, and briefs to counsel.

  • Understanding and knowledge within RTA and PI/EL/PL case handling.

  • Knowledge of JC Guidelines for the assessment of general damages in personal injury cases, and understanding and ability to research different resources, e.g. Lawtel.

  • Extensive, SME-level prior experience as a personal injury and/or EL/PL claims handler, technical lead, or team leader, either within an insurance company or law firm environment, including litigation.

  • Understanding of the OIC and MOJ portals.

  • Knowledge of Pre-Action Protocols, CPR, Practice Directions, and relevant statute and case law.
