We currently have an exciting new opportunity to join our Defendant Litigation Team at DLG Legal Services as Motor Damage Defendant Litigator. This is a permanent and full-time position, that can be based from our Birmingham office (hybrid working).
The Role:
The Defendant Litigator role exists to deliver high-quality, cost-effective handling of litigated Defendant Motor Damage claims in line with legal, regulatory, and client requirements. The role provides technical expertise and ownership of complex litigation, ensuring cases are progressed proactively and resolved efficiently. By combining strong legal judgement with a customer-focused approach, the role supports positive customer outcomes and business performance. The role also contributes to team capability, consistency, and continuous improvement across the function.
What you'll be doing
- Reporting to a Team Leader, you will be a part of a small and successful team, defending litigated motor damage claims from receipt of proceedings to settlement or final hearing.
- High-quality litigated claims handled effectively and within agreed timescales.
- Consistent compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements.
- Clear, defensible case strategies that balance customer outcomes and cost effectiveness.
- Positive customer experience supported by timely, transparent communication.
- Improved team capability and consistency through knowledge sharing and technical support.
- Contribution to improved efficiency, quality, and business performance.
What you'll need
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or CILEx with a current practising certificate and the right to conduct litigation.
- Proven experience in civil litigation, ideally within motor damage or insurance-related matters.
- Road Traffic Accident (RTA) experience is preferred but not essential.
- Strong technical capability in drafting, negotiation, and case management.
- Sound commercial judgement and understanding of cost-effective litigation strategy.
