Responsibilities

  • To provide technical legal supervision and support to a team of claimant personal injury claims handlers delivering legal services to DLG Legal Services clients, ensuring the provision of accurate, high-quality, and compliant advice, and supporting the professional development of the team through technical coaching and the dissemination of specialist knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively and flexibly with other Technical Leads to provide technical support and supervision across your function to ensure the provision of a high-quality and compliant service.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on relevant areas of law, applying legal knowledge and experience to help fellow team members deal with novel and/or complex situations.
  • Input into the management and development of fellow team members' performance regarding the quality and compliance of their work and on their technical knowledge and development.
  • Guide and support junior members of the team and review and sign off on legal documents.
  • Contribute to the proactive management of risk across the function, with a particular focus on those risks associated with standards of legal practice and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead on the issuing of files and completing audits for the wider team.
  • Work in a hybrid model, with at least 50% of time in the office, depending on role and team.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor with extensive knowledge of accurate drafting of court documents, applications, and briefs to counsel.
  • Understanding and knowledge within RTA and PI/EL/PL case handling.
  • Knowledge of JC Guidelines for assessing general damages in personal injury cases, and ability to research resources such as Lawtel.
  • Extensive, SME-level prior experience as a personal injury and/or EL/PL claims handler, technical lead, or team leader, either within an insurance company or law firm environment, including litigation.
  • Understanding of the OIC and MOJ portals.
  • Knowledge of Pre-Action Protocols, CPR, Practice Directions, and relevant statute and case law.
