Leeds Permanent DLg is evolving. Across every part of our business, teams are embracing new opportunities and putting customers at the heart of everything they do. Whether you\\\’re already part of DLG or thinking about joining us, you\\\’ll have the chance not only to be recognised for your skills, but also to build on them and be empowered to do your very best.
We are looking for a Technical Analyst to join our Motor Claims Analytics team on a full-time, permanent basis. In 2024, Direct Line Group (DLG) incurred approximately £2 billion in Motor claims costs. As a Technical Analyst, you will play a critical role in helping us understand, analyse, and influence the drivers behind these costs — from frequency and types of claims to their overall severity.
We are not just looking for someone who can crunch numbers; we need a strategic thinker who can turn complex data into meaningful insight and use it to drive high‑impact decisions across the business. If you combine strong technical ability with leadership skills and a passion for performance improvement, this could be your next big move.
What you\\\’ll be doing
- Deliver clear, compelling analysis that shapes business strategy and supports key decision‑making at the highest levels (including CCO, COO, and SLT)
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver analytics‑driven solutions to key challenges across Claims and the wider business
- Use advanced SQL and statistical techniques to interrogate datasets and identify performance trends, cost drivers, and improvement opportunities
- Spot opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency, helping to strengthen our bottom line
- Lead a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement, challenging existing practices with data‑backed insight
- Support and mentor other analysts, helping to grow technical capability and analytical excellence across the team
What you\\\’ll need
- Deep analytical expertise, with a strong numerical foundation and a passion for using data to solve real business problems
- Advanced SQL coding skills and experience working with large datasets using statistical or predictive techniques
- Proficiency in data visualisation tools such as Tableau and Qlik (or similar), with the ability to tell stories through data
- Ability to communicate complex data in a clear, engaging way to senior stakeholders and non‑technical audiences
- Excellent relationship management and stakeholder influencing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- A naturally curious, innovative mindset, constantly seeking better ways of working
Hybrid working
Our hybrid model offers a “best of both worlds” approach. When you\\\’ll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 50% of their time in the office across the month.
Benefits
We recognise we wouldn’t be where we are today without our colleagues, which is why we offer excellent benefits designed to suit your lifestyle:
- 9% employer‑contributed pension
- 50% off home, motor, and pet insurance, plus free Green Flag breakdown cover
- Additional optional Health and Dental insurance
- EV car scheme
- Generous holidays
- Buy as you earn share scheme
- Employee discounts and cashback
- Plus, many more
We want everyone to get the most out of their time at DLG, which is why we’ve looked beyond financial rewards and created an offer that takes your whole life into account. Supporting our people to work at their best — whatever that looks like — and offering real choice, flexibility, and a greater work‑life balance means our people have time to focus on the things that matter most to them. Our benefits are about more than just the money you earn. They’re about recognising who you are and the life you live.
