Direct Line Group (DLG) has created a new Chief Controls Office (CCO) within the first line of defence as part of a group-wide risk and control transformation programme now in its second year. This provides a unique opportunity to be part of a skilled risk professional team that is redeveloping the end-to-end risk and control framework, including launching new RCSAs, control testing, a new integrated risk management system, and rebuilding risk management capabilities across the first line to foster a robust risk-aware culture within DLG.
What you'll be doing:
- Provide risk and control management expertise to identify and assess risks and issues, ensuring they are escalated and recorded according to the Risk Management Framework.
- Support the design of appropriate actions to manage these risks within the business's risk appetite.
- Support key activities such as the RCSA process, enabling the business to understand their control environment, assess risks, and drive a culture of action planning and remediation.
- Assist in delivering effective Issue and event management by establishing governance, conducting root cause analysis, and identifying controls and remedial actions to support good customer outcomes.
- Conduct trend analysis across various risk and control areas, identifying key actions.
- Support deep dives into root causes of issues and control failures to strengthen the risk and control environment and protect customer and business outcomes.
- Maintain an understanding of relevant risk appetite statements and KRIs, considering these when assessing risks and controls.
- Ensure a proportionate approach to operational risk management, supporting strategic goals and complying with DLG standards.
- Engage proactively with business areas to provide risk management support, focusing on business partnering and stakeholder management.
- Work independently with relevant teams to influence risk identification, management, and measurement, providing challenge as needed.
- Support the accuracy and embedding of the Workiva risk system and data inputs.
- Be aware of audit and testing programmes, support the Control Testing Team, and ensure regulatory and internal standards are met.
- Contribute to the wider Chief Controls Office's vision and objectives.
Location & Flexibility: This role is flexible and can be based in London, Leeds, or Glasgow. Our hybrid model requires colleagues to spend at least 2 days a week in the office, depending on the role and team.

- Understanding of the three lines model and roles of business, Risk & Compliance, and Internal Audit.
- Knowledge of regulatory bodies and legislation relevant to the insurance industry.
