At DLG Legal Services, our mission is to make law easy and accessible to everyone. As part of the Direct Line Group, we provide legal services to over 50,000 DLG customers each year. Customers can access our Legal Advice-Line team, and our growing list of services includes personal injury, employment, property, inheritance, and contract litigation. We also support our parent group, litigating on their behalf.
We have several new and exciting opportunities available within our Defendant Motor Damage Litigation team, suitable for experienced claims handlers, either from a legal or insurance background. These roles can be offered on either a full time and Permanent or Fixed Term Contract basis, and can be based from our Bristol, Birmingham, or Bromley office (hybrid working).
The role
Reporting to a Team Leader, you will be a part of a small and successful team, defending litigated motor damage claims from receipt of proceedings to settlement or final hearing.
What you will be doing
- Responsible for managing cases to an effective and satisfactory conclusion within service levels and to a targeted outcome.
- Drafting defences, witness statements, and instructing counsel where appropriate.
- Reviewing evidence and making offers to settle where appropriate.
- Delivering clear, accurate, and succinct advice within relevant timescales and managing a portfolio of litigated cases.
- Staying abreast of case law and practice.

- Relevant litigation experience, either from a legal or insurance background is essential.
- Analytical skills to interpret information and identify issues.

Contract: Permanent or Fixed Term Contract
Location: Bristol (BS1 6JX), Birmingham (B3 2NU), Bromley (BD1 1DP)
Home Working: Hybrid model (2 days in the office, 3 days from home)
Working hours: 35 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
