Commercial Property Claims Handler Manchester - Hybrid (2 days a week in the office) Full Time, Permanent Position.

What you’ll be doing
As a Commercial Property Claims Handler, you’ll take ownership of commercial claims from start to finish - validating, investigating and negotiating to reach the best possible outcome. You’ll work proactively to move claims forward, choosing the right settlement route while balancing great customer experience, revenue generation and cost control. Reporting directly to the Commercial Claims Team Leader, you’ll:
- Triage new technical and/or large claims - including Property, Subsidence, Environmental, Liability, Injury and Motor.
- Handle retained technical claims end-to-end.
- Spot, investigate and manage potential fraudulent claims.
- Investigate and negotiate indemnity and liability, identifying opportunities for recovery.
- Manage litigated cases, working closely with in-house and panel lawyers.
- Own and manage risks in line with the Direct Line Group risk framework.
- Control indemnity spend and reserving through effective negotiation.
- Manage customer and third-party expectations throughout the lifecycle of each claim.
- Maximise revenue generation, cost control and recovery opportunities to secure the best settlement.
- Work within regulatory timescales and guidelines.
- Act as a technical mentor and referral point to support capability development within the team.
- Keep customer experience at the heart of every decision, following Treating Customers Fairly principles.
- Contribute to meeting all departmental targets and measures.
What you’ll need
- Solid experience handling insurance claims.
- Good understanding of indemnity, liability and recovery principles.
- Good awareness of risk and the ability to follow our processes and guidelines.
