Direct Line Motability Risk & Compliance Unit Leader
Liverpool – Hybrid (2 days a week in the office)
Full Time, 12 Month Fixed Term Contract/Secondment Position

What you’ll be doing
Reporting directly to the Head of Strategy & Governance, you\’ll:

Lead the Risk & Compliance team within DLM, setting the strategy and tactical approach for effective risk and control management

Develop and implement control frameworks to ensure business risks are identified, monitored, and mitigated

Take ownership of FCA regulatory, legislative, and compliance activity across DLM

Manage multiple controls and sign-off processes to maintain regulatory and legislative compliance

Identify risks and opportunities across the scheme, working with stakeholders to implement necessary changes

Partner with process and control owners to ensure robust control processes and continuous improvement

Lead, manage, and develop a team of technical experts, ensuring capability aligns with business needs

Oversee and deliver control changes and improvements in line with business priorities

Plan and manage resources effectively, ensuring service level agreements are met (e.g. risk incident reporting)

Provide expert advice, guidance, and oversight for a variety of business activities

Drive and support business development initiatives and projects across DLM
-
Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, providing guidance to both team members and leaders
-
Actively contribute to the wider DLM business, including involvement in recruitment, disciplinaries, and grievance processes

Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports to track DLM’s risk position and ensure mitigations are in place

Support and lead governance activities in alignment with frameworks such as proposition management
Our hybrid model offers a \’best of both worlds\’ approach. When you\’ll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office.
What you’ll need

Strong understanding of FCA Conduct Rules, including Consumer Duty

Proven experience designing and delivering control frameworks within an FCA-regulated environment

Solid knowledge and hands-on application of the “three lines of defence” risk management model

Demonstrated people leadership skills, with the ability to lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team
