Role Description

The Fabricator Welder will carry out fabrication and welding of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium components for silos, pipework, and general engineering projects. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting engineering drawings, measuring and cutting materials, assembling structures, and performing high-quality welds using appropriate welding processes. The role involves operating workshop equipment, checking work against quality standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of fabrication methods. The Fabricator Welder will work closely with engineers and other team members to meet project deadlines, maintain a safe and tidy workspace, and follow all health and safety procedures. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chesterfield.

Qualifications

  • Strong fabrication skills, including measuring, cutting, forming, and assembling metal components.
  • Proficiency in welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, and/or MMA) for mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and fabrication instructions.
  • Experience using workshop tools and machinery such as grinders, saws, drills, and forming equipment.
  • Understanding of quality standards and inspection methods relevant to metal fabrication and welding.
  • Solid awareness of health, safety, and manual handling practices in an engineering workshop environment.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications or apprenticeship in fabrication and welding (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience in silo fabrication, pipework installations, or sheet metal work is advantageous.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible approach to overtime and varied project work to meet customer and production requirements.
