Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site CNC Turner Programmer/Setter/Operator role based in Chesterfield.
The role involves programming CNC lathes from technical drawings, setting up machines, selecting appropriate tooling, and running production jobs to meet quality and delivery requirements.
Daily tasks include checking and interpreting engineering drawings, performing first-off and in-process inspections, and adjusting programs and tooling to maintain dimensional accuracy.
The role also requires routine machine maintenance, adherence to safety and quality procedures, and accurate recording of production data.
Collaboration with supervisors and colleagues to optimise machining processes and support continuous improvement activities is expected.
Qualifications
- CNC Programming and experience with Fanuc & G-Code Programming, including creating, modifying, and optimising programs.
- Great understanding of roughing, finishing, boring, drilling and threading cycles
- Technical Drawing skills, including reading and interpreting engineering drawings and tolerances.
- Previous experience as a CNC Turner programmer/setter/operator in a precision engineering environment.
- Knowledge of common materials (e. g., stainless steel, mild steel, aluminium) and appropriate tooling and machining techniques.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to perform dimensional checks using measuring equipment (e. g., micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Ability to work safely, follow established procedures, and contribute to a clean and organized workshop.
- Relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience in CNC machining.
