An opportunity has arisen to join the Diomed Purchasing and Supply team as a Packaging Development and Compliance Manager. The successful candidate will manage and implement compliant and sustainable packaging solutions across the business, working with suppliers and internal teams to deliver practical improvements in cost, efficiency, and environmental performance. They will need to gather, maintain, and submit to scheme administrators, data relating to Plastic Packaging Tax, Extended Producer Responsibility, and Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage day-to-day implementation of sustainable and compliant packaging across existing and new products
  • Work with Production to deliver practical packaging efficiency improvements (material reduction, waste reduction, process suitability)
  • Manage & support NPI Planner Buyer to ensure packaging is compliant, fit for purpose, and commercially viable at launch
  • Ensure primary packaging material technical data sheets are available, maintained, and support regulatory needs for MHRA/Notified Body submissions, seeking additional approval for use where required
  • Ensure packaging regulatory requirements, including EPR, PPWR, and Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT), are met
  • Coordinate packaging compliance data collection to ensure submissions happen accurately and on time
  • Liaise with packaging suppliers to source improved materials, formats, and specifications
  • Serve as the central point of contact for all new packaging initiatives and strategic packaging projects
  • Share ownership of packaging specifications with Inventory Planner Buyers, ensuring departmental alignment is maintained across compliance, technical, and operational requirements
  • Support purchasing decisions by balancing sustainability, cost, supply risk, and performance
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across the packaging supply base
  • Provide clear, practical guidance to internal stakeholders on packaging requirements
