The Holy Ghost & St Stephen Church, Shepherd’s Bush, is a thriving and growing parish with a strong community of young families and parishioners eager to deepen their faith. We are seeking a committed Formation Coordinator to build on our successful catechetical programmes and help parishioners of all ages grow in their relationship with Christ and live out their faith fully as Catholics.

About the Role

Working closely with the Parish Priest and parish volunteers, the Formation Coordinator will be responsible for planning, delivering, and developing the parish’s catechetical and formation programmes. This includes sacramental preparation, outreach, and the identification of new opportunities for mission and faith development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating and supporting parish catechetical programmes, including: Children’s Liturgy, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, RCI, Baptism and marriage preparation
  • Providing direct teaching where appropriate and supporting volunteer catechists
  • Recruiting, training, and mentoring new and existing catechists
  • Liaising with parents, candidates, safeguarding authorities, the Diocese, and the parish school
  • Managing the administration of formation programmes
  • Reviewing and developing catechetical resources and programmes
  • Identifying new opportunities for mission and adult formation, including work with newly confirmed and married couples
  • Working collaboratively with neighbouring parishes where appropriate

  • Is a believing and practising Catholic, faithful to the teachings of the Church
  • Has experience of Catholic catechesis and parish life
  • Is a person of prayer, able to support others in developing their spiritual lives
  • Communicates clearly, warmly, and compassionately
  • Is well organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Has good IT and design skills
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality, and pastoral sensitivity
  • Experience working in a faith‑based or charitable setting is welcome but not essential.
