This is a unique opportunity to shape and establish a newly created strategic Trust leadership role. Working directly with the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Team, you will have the opportunity to influence Trust strategy, build professional networks and develop sector‑leading practice across our 24 academies, making a lasting difference to children, young people and school leaders across SNMAT.

As Trust SEND Lead, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a Trust‑wide SEND strategy that aligns with SNMAT’s vision, inclusion priorities and statutory responsibilities. You will provide strategic oversight of SEND provision across all academies, ensuring consistency, quality and compliance while recognising and responding to the unique context of each school. This role requires a highly visible leader who will regularly work across all academies, building strong relationships with leaders, SENCOs, staff, pupils and families. Travel between schools will be a key aspect of the role, ensuring that support, challenge and improvement activity are closely connected to the needs of individual settings.

Across the SNMAT family, our Church of England schools deliver SEND provision rooted in spirituality, care and love. We have significant expertise within our academies and are seeking an inspirational leader with extensive SEND knowledge and leadership experience to unite, strengthen and further develop our inclusive practice across the Trust.

At SNMAT we offer:

  • A strongly collaborative, values‑driven organisation
  • A supportive Trust Support Team with high levels of expertise
  • The opportunity to shape education across a group of diverse and vibrant academies
  • Investment in your development through regular training, coaching and professional learning
  • A workplace that prioritises relationships, integrity and shared purpose.

We Are Looking For a leader who:

  • Combines deep SEND expertise with strategic vision, moral purpose and a commitment to inclusion.
  • Understands the value of diversity and creativity in education and will inspire others to ensure that every child is known, valued and supported to achieve their full potential.
  • Someone who can use data, evidence and professional judgement to identify priorities, evaluate impact and drive improvement.
  • A confident communicator who can build strong relationships, influence and challenge appropriately, and work collaboratively with leaders, SENCOs, families and external partners.
  • Will foster a culture of inclusion rooted in care, dignity and Christian values.

What Success Will Look Like:

Within two to three years, the successful candidate will have established a coherent and highly effective Trust‑wide SEND strategy that secures strong outcomes for pupils across all academies. There will be consistent compliance with statutory requirements, increased leadership capacity within schools, robust use of data to drive improvement, and clear evidence that pupils with SEND are thriving academically, socially and emotionally. Most importantly, every academy will demonstrate a strong culture of inclusion where children with SEND are fully supported to flourish within their school community.

The job description and application form are available via the SNMAT website or through My New Term. If you require any further information or for an informal discussion, please contact Sukwinder Bassi - Interim CEO on sbassi@snmat.org.uk.
