As a Wok Chef at Din Tai Fung UK, you will play a crucial role in supporting our back kitchen team and ensuring smooth service. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Prepare, cook, and serve high-quality wok dishes, noodle dishes, and appetisers
- Operate your chef station with precision and attention to detail
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, stock rotation, and kitchen cleanliness
- Train and support junior kitchen team members
- Work collaboratively with a team of passionate chefs during busy services
- Ensure consistency, portion control, and fast service in a high-volume kitchen
Who You Are
We are looking for a Wok Chef who is enthusiastic, hardworking, and thrives in a dynamic and busy environment. Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in a Chef de Partie, Wok Chef, Noodle Chef, or Commis Chef role—however, we are happy to train enthusiastic individuals willing to learn!
- Worked in an Asian kitchen, Taiwanese restaurant, Chinese restaurant, or other pan-Asian cuisine
- Understand traditional Chinese cooking techniques (wok hei, noodle pulling, etc.)
- Have strong knife skills, excellent prep technique, and kitchen discipline
- Are motivated, reliable, and looking for a long-term chef career with us
- Flexible availability to work full time, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, with shifts that may run as late as 10:30 PM
What We Offer
- Competitive Pay: Hourly rates (including troncs) start at £15, rising to £16~£17 once qualified
- Working Week: 5 days per week on a rota basis throughout Monday to Sunday; night shifts may run as late as 10:30 PM
- Contracted Hours: 40~48 hours per week
- Location: Hiring for Central London (Covent Garden, Centre Point, Selfridges and Canary Wharf)
