Support Worker – Part-Time (30Hours + 1 Sleep-In Shift)

Derby / Heanor, DE75 (10 minutes from Ripley Hospital)
ÂŁ12.35 per hour + ÂŁ50 per sleep-in shift

We have an exciting opportunity for a Female Support Worker to join our team in Derbyshire. This role offers flexibility, a supportive team culture, and the chance to make a meaningful difference to people’s lives.

Who You Will Be Supporting

You will be supporting three individuals:

  • Two young gentlemen
  • One lady in her 40s–50s

All have profound and multiple learning disabilities. They enjoy a variety of hobbies and value time with family, who remain closely involved in their care.

Their interests include:

  • Meeting family and friends
  • Football and cricket
  • Day trips, walks, and visiting local pubs
  • Shopping and meals out
  • Hobbies and healthy living activities

Your support will help them enjoy everyday moments, build confidence, and stay connected to the things they love.

What You Will Be Doing

Your role will be varied and focused on helping the individuals lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Personal care — Supporting with all aspects of personal care, maintaining dignity and comfort.

Community support — Providing shared and 1:1 support for outings, activities, and appointments.

Mobility assistance — Supporting individuals who use wheelchairs, hoists, and mobility equipment.

Meal preparation — Preparing meals and supporting with dietary needs and healthy routines.

Medication — Administering medication safely and in line with guidance.

Household support — Assisting with cooking, shopping, budgeting, housework, and attending health appointments.

Emotional support — Offering reassurance, understanding individual communication styles, and responding positively to behaviours.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Enthusiastic, caring, and compassionate
  • Confident communicating with people who do not use words to speak
  • Patient, respectful, and committed to advocating for others
  • Friendly and positive, with a genuine interest in community activities
  • Organised and reliable
  • Comfortable supporting people with profound and multiple learning disabilities

Due to the personal care needs of the people supported, this is a female-only role.

Shift Pattern

This part-time role includes 15 hours per week + 1 sleep-in shift.

Shifts include:

  • 7:00am – 4:00pm
  • 4:00pm – 10:00pm
  • Sleep-Ins: 10:00pm – 7:00am

Rotas are planned in advance to support a healthy work-life balance.
