At Dimensions, we believe you should be able to bring your whole self to work and feel celebrated for it. As a Relief Support Worker, you’ll be valued, supported, and encouraged to grow, with flexibility that fits around your life and wellbeing. Whether you’re balancing family commitments, study, another job or simply want extra hours, we’ll work with you.

We’re proud to be recognised as a Great Place to Work for seven years running, and to offer relief colleagues the same warmth, support, and development as our permanent teams.

About the role

  • Relief Male Support Worker
  • Zero-hour contract
  • Comberton, Cambridgeshire
  • Full UK MANUAL driving licence and own car essential.

You’ll be joining a small, dedicated team supporting one gentleman in his 40s who lives independently in a quiet two-bedroom bungalow in Comberton. He receives 2:1 support, day and night, and you’ll always work alongside another colleague.

He is highly independent, communicates using words, enjoys conversation and has a brilliant sense of humour. His support focuses on encouragement rather than hands-on support, prompting around personal hygiene, supporting safe mobility after seizures, checking his self-administered medication, and helping him prepare meals.

He thrives on routine but loves exploring new interests. You’ll support him with swimming (you must be comfortable getting into the pool), visiting his drop-in centre, photography, colouring, printing photos and enjoying trips out in his car, which he’s proud of.

He has a strong sense of right and wrong, and responds best to Support Workers who communicate clearly, listen well and work with him — not around him.

About You

You’ll be a calm and patient Support Worker who is confident working in a highly regulated home and responding to complex epilepsy. You don’t need years of experience, but some previous social care or relevant support experience is essential due to his needs. You must be a male Support Worker, hold a full UK manual licence, have your own vehicle, and be able to drive his mobility car during shifts.

You’re someone who builds trust through consistency, listens closely, explains support clearly and treats people as equals. Teamwork matters here, and you’ll play an important role in creating stability and routine.

Rewards that make a difference

  • A competitive payrate with uplift for overtime you chose to work.
  • 30 days paid Annual Leave (including public holidays – pro rata).
  • Opportunities for career progression.
  • We offer a salary advance scheme where you can access up to 50% of the money you’ve earned before payday.
  • High Street Discounts – Retail and Entertainment (supermarkets, hospitality, pubs, cinema etc.).
  • Life Assurance and Company Pension.
  • Industry leading training.
  • Enhanced DBS paid for by us.

An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this role, the cost of which will be incurred by Dimensions. We welcome applications from everyone who has the right to work in the UK, and value diversity in our workforce.

If a driving licence is required for this role you will need to produce a copy of the driving licence at the onboarding stage. Gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. In this context, "gender" refers to the sex legally assigned to an individual.

As Disability Confident Leaders, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy - Dimensions has been awarded this symbol by Jobcentre Plus to recognise our commitment towards the employment, retention, training, and career development of disabled employees.

As part of our commitment to making reasonable adjustments we can offer support to complete your application. Please contact the Resourcing Consultant Team on 03003039150.
