As these ladies have their own vehicles it is essential all Female Support Workers hold a full UK/EU Driving License. Gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. In this context, \”gender\” refers to the sex legally assigned to an individual. Dimensions is seeking Female Support Workers to make a meaningful difference to two ladies we support in Christchurch by empowering their independence and supporting them to lead fulfilled lives. We are able to accept applications for part-time Female Support Workers.
Overview
You will be working a mixture of early (07:00-14:30) and late (14:30-22:00) shifts and Sleep-Ins. There will be a requirement to work alternate weekends. Pay rate £12.85 per hour. Sleep-in shifts are paid at an allowance of £50 per shift. The ladies we support are in their 60s. One has learning disabilities and the other Downs Syndrome and a learning disability. They enjoy days full of activities and would like to meet Female Support Workers who can support them to:
- Go to Fresh Outlook on Tuesdays (activity club where bowling, bowls and arts & crafts happen)
- Go on trips to Littledown Leisure Centre to go swimming
- Go out in their cars
- Go on trips to the beach
- Head into town to go shopping
- Help organise long weekends away
- Look after their pet rabbit
Responsibilities
- Support with day-to-day tasks (which include but are not limited to finances, shopping, cooking and personal care)
- Assist with mobility and activities of daily living as needed
- Encourage independence and participation in community activities
Qualifications and Requirements
- Full UK/EU Driving License
- Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities is desirable
- Commitment to equality, dignity and rights of people with disabilities
