About the role

You'll be supporting a friendly young man with complex needs to live a full, meaningful, and independent life on his own terms. He currently lives in the beautiful village of Rufforth with his much-loved support dog, who is always happy to welcome visitors and enjoy plenty of fuss! In the coming months, he'll be embarking on an exciting new chapter as he moves to Yafforth, and you'll have the opportunity to support him through this important transition and help him settle into his new home and community.

He enjoys getting out and about, whether that's going for walks, cycling, swimming, catching a film at the cinema, listening to music, or spending time with the people who matter most to him. We're looking for someone kind, patient, and confident to join his dedicated support team. Experience supporting people with complex behavioural needs is essential, but just as important is a positive attitude, a genuine desire to make a difference, and a willingness to build a trusting and meaningful relationship.

No two days are the same, and that's what makes this role so rewarding. You'll be supporting him to:

  • Build confidence and develop independent living skills
  • Take part in everyday activities such as shopping, cooking, cleaning, and laundry
  • Manage and take medication safely
  • Access education, employment, and leisure opportunities
  • Enjoy the activities he loves and discover new experiences
  • Navigate and settle into his new home and local community following his move to Yafforth
  • Achieve his personal goals while feeling supported, valued, and empowered

To help you plan your life outside of work, rotas are provided at least four weeks in advance, because we know how important a healthy work-life balance is.
