The Portfolio Management team is responsible for the implementation of Dimensional’s investment philosophy. The team ensures that client portfolios maintain the desired exposure to their chosen market and targeted premiums, assisting the sales team in educating clients on Dimensional’s investment approach. The team prides itself on an approach that marries practicality with intellectual rigour, knowledge and accuracy, working closely with other departments, such as Trading, Legal, Operations and Research to ensure that our investment solutions deliver as expected.

Alongside the primary fund management responsibilities, the Portfolio Management team continuously seeks to improve existing processes and facilitate company growth through projects and other global initiatives.

As an Analyst, you will support the day-to-day needs of the Portfolio Management team. The team of Analysts work collaboratively to cover core functions that facilitate day-to-day fund management, including corporate action analysis, review of market and security news, and daily oversight of funds and positions to ensure downstream accuracy, as well as anticipating the needs of portfolio managers as part of the team’s daily implementation efforts.

In addition to those core functions, our Analysts receive ample opportunity to collaborate with senior team members across various projects and processes, providing outstanding learning opportunities and the chance to gain familiarity with many of the crucial components of fund management. Once settled into the role, Analysts may be entered into the “Analyst Development Program” as well as adopt junior lead roles across the key areas that underpin the investment process. The comprehensive experience available within the role and the commitment to continuous development provides a solid foundation for the successful candidate wishing to progress to the position of portfolio manager.

The ideal Analyst candidate will be pro-active, analytical, and able to grasp our core investment concepts quickly. You should be able to digest and articulate the research and scientific approach that Dimensional takes to investing. We are looking for someone with strong self-motivation and a desire to excel in the Portfolio Management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Portfolio Managers and Analysts in Dimensional’s global offices across equities on topics such as corporate actions, cash balances, and portfolio holdings
  • Monitor and analyse securities for significant changes
  • Assist with portfolio reporting including returns, market value calculations, and characteristics
  • Special projects including portfolio analysis, index analysis, and ad-hoc data requests
  • Propose and develop improvements to existing business processes
  • Substantive communication with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Operations, DFA global offices, and custodian banks

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in engineering, mathematics, science, finance or another technical discipline is preferred
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, highly motivated and able to work independently and in a team environment
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines, to be adaptable and prioritise effectively is a necessary skill
  • Ability to absorb and apply information from formal and informal learning experiences
  • Strong communications skills (verbal and written)
  • Interest in financial markets and academic research related to the field
  • Prior exposure to programming and/or databases (Python, SQL, VBA) preferred
