Dilton Marsh Church of England Primary School is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join its welcoming and supportive team with effect from September 2026. The successful candidate will also carry out Wraparound Care duties to support with the school’s before-school breakfast club provision helping to ensure a safe, caring and stimulating environment for all children who attend.

Working Hours: Part Time (30.83 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 38 weeks per year – no Teacher Training Days). Wraparound Care responsibilities for school breakfast club provision will be in addition to the role at an extra 5 hours per week, 7.30am until 8.30am.

We are a happy and popular, single form entry, primary school, educating children between the ages of 5 and 11. Located in the charming village of Dilton Marsh, we have strong relationships with the local community and Holy Trinity Church. Our staff are dedicated to providing a safe, happy, caring, creative and nurturing learning environment, where everyone is valued as an individual and encouraged to become independent and resilient learners. As a founding member of Acorn Education Trust in 2014, we work closely with other schools within the Trust to provide the best possible education, opportunities and support for our young people. In November 2023, we were proud to achieve a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating in all categories, with inspectors praising our staff for their ‘high expectations for all pupils’.

As a Teaching Assistant, you must be able to work across all age ranges within our school and be prepared to work flexibly to provide cover on a regular basis and support children of all abilities, including those requiring social and emotional support, SEN support, liaising with teachers and SENCO. The Wraparound Care element of the role involves assisting with the planning and organising of a range of activities suitable for primary-aged children, taking into account their interests and developmental needs.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for young people;
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
  • Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • Is self-motivated, dedicated and consistent, and will support in ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality education and care for all of our children;
  • Has experience of working with children (4 – 11 years old) in a play / educational setting;
  • Has Food handling experience and/or a Food handling certificate (or willingness to complete one);
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Can be a strong team player as well as use your own initiative;
  • Has a positive and flexible attitude;
  • Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of young people, including their social and emotional wellbeing;
  • Has experience of supporting children’s learning;
  • Has a current First Aid or is prepared to undertake training.
