What you’ll be doing

  • Providing expert advice and guidance to managers on a wide range of employee relations matters, ensuring issues are managed fairly, consistently, and in line with company policies and employment legislation.
  • Supporting managers with disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance, and other people-related cases, helping them navigate processes with confidence.
  • Identifying and escalating complex or high-risk employee relations matters, working closely with senior People colleagues to achieve compliant and effective outcomes.
  • Delivering ER clinics, training sessions, and manager briefings to build capability and strengthen people management skills across the business.
  • Monitoring and maintaining employee relations case records and trackers, ensuring accurate documentation and supporting proactive reporting and analysis.
  • Assisting with the development and review of HR policies, procedures, and guidance to ensure they remain legally compliant and aligned to business needs.
  • Supporting the preparation of case documentation, timelines, and evidence for ACAS matters and Employment Tribunal claims, ensuring accurate and well-organised records.
  • Analysing case trends and emerging themes to identify opportunities for process improvements, manager development, and wider people initiatives across the organisation.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience managing a broad range of employee relations cases from start to finish, providing practical and commercially focused solutions.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and the ability to apply legislation confidently to real-life business situations.
  • Experience coaching, advising and developing managers on people-related matters, helping build confidence and capability across the organisation.
  • A track record of handling complex ER issues, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management and performance-related cases.
  • Experience supporting settlement agreements and ensuring cases are managed in a compliant, fair and consistent manner.
  • Ability to analyse people data and case trends, using insights to drive positive outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working with Trade Unions and building effective relationships with employee representatives.
  • Exposure to Employment Tribunal cases, policy development and initiatives that help shape and improve employee relations culture.
