As a Residential Childcare Senior Support Worker, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact by helping young people to develop resilience, overcome challenges, and thrive in a safe environment.
About the Role
We are seeking a Residential Childcare Senior Support Worker to join our exceptional team based in Birmingham. We need someone with the passion and determination to go the extra mile to create a home that every child truly deserves. This includes creating a space brimming with activity, new experiences, and, most importantly, fun and laughter.
Due to ensuring continuity for the young people in our care, we require our staff to work flexibly. Staff are required to work a 3 β week rolling rota which will incorporate 2 β weeks of day shifts and one week of waking nights. Day shifts required are 15 hours long.
Responsibilities
- Promote and adhere to the workplace values of Dignus Group (Resilience, Courage, Integrity, Respect, Confidence and innovation)
- Provide supervisory control and direction in relation to staff duties and responsibilities.
- Take responsibility for planning shifts and ensuring the smooth running of the service.
- Contribute to team and staff meetings to facilitate and encourage good communication and staff development.
- Assist with the recruitment and retention of staff including induction training for all new team members.
- Supervise new starters during their probationary period to ensure they receive best in class support.
- Undertake supervisions, address performance issues and identify training and development needs.
- Promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of each young person.
- Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with the young people.
- Manage behaviour positively and assertively by working in line with specified care and risk management plans.
About You
- Must be above 21 years old.
- Minimum of 18 months experience in a residential childcare setting.
- Diploma or NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare.
- Good standard of written and verbal English.
- Able to provide emotional and social support whilst promoting dignity and respect.
- Show integrity by conducting yourself ethically, honestly and honorably.
- Possess moral strength to do what is right at all times.
- Show resilience by never giving up or compromising on quality.
- Confident to challenge ways of working to encourage new ideas and achieve positive outcomes.
- Successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check at enhanced level.
