We are looking for a forward-thinking Head of Transactional Finance to lead, modernise and optimise our transactional finance operations.

With responsibility across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury and associated activities, you will play a pivotal role in creating an efficient, controlled and high-performing finance function.

This is more than a traditional leadership position.

You will set the strategic direction, drive automation and process improvement, develop team capability and strengthen financial controls.

Just as importantly, you will stay close to day-to-day operations and be prepared to step in personally when additional support is needed.

If you are a finance leader who enjoys solving problems, improving how things work and leading visibly from the front, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful and measurable impact.

What you'll do As Head of Transactional Finance, you will

  • Lead, mentor and develop the transactional finance team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and high performance.
  • Oversee end-to-end processes across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and improve processes.
  • Lead automation and digital transformation initiatives, using ERP systems and emerging technologies to improve productivity.
  • Establish clear objectives, KPIs and service-level standards, ensuring the team delivers consistently against them.
  • Strengthen internal controls and ensure adherence to audit, regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and external audits relating to transactional finance.
  • Work closely with Finance, IT and other business areas to integrate systems and streamline workflows.
  • Provide meaningful performance reporting, insight and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Support efficient and compliant month-end and year-end close activity.
  • Maintain a visible and hands-on presence, personally supporting Accounts Payable and Treasury processing during periods of leave, absence or backlog.
  • What we are looking for

You will bring significant experience of managing transactional finance operations, supported by strong operational knowledge across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury.

  • A successful track record of delivering finance transformation, process improvement and automation.
  • Experience of leading and developing a transactional finance team.
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, governance, compliance and audit requirements.
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
  • The ability to influence senior stakeholders and build effective relationships across different business areas.
  • A commercial and analytical mindset, with the ability to solve problems and manage competing priorities.
  • A practical, collaborative approach and a genuine willingness to get involved in operational processing when required.

A professional finance qualification, such as ACCA or AAT, would be desirable but is not essential.
