Are you a tenacious Credit Controller who enjoys solving problems, influencing stakeholders, and driving results?

Do you want a role where your work directly impacts business performance and gives you the opportunity to gain visibility with senior leadership, including the CEO?

We're looking for a proactive and commercially minded Credit Controller to join our Finance team.

This isn't just a traditional collections role; it's an opportunity to become a key contributor to the business by improving cash flow, reducing aged debt, identifying process improvements, and helping shape how we manage customer accounts.

This is a role where your ideas will be heard, your achievements will be recognised, and your success will have a tangible impact on the organisation's financial performance.

Why This Opportunity?

This role offers a unique platform to showcase your ability to deliver meaningful business results.

You'll work closely with teams across the organisation, helping to resolve issues, improve processes, and drive stronger financial outcomes.

Your work will be highly visible, and you'll have the opportunity to influence key stakeholders and demonstrate the value you can bring to the wider business.

What You'll Be Doing

As Credit Controller, you'll play a pivotal role in managing and reducing outstanding debt while helping the business improve its overall cash collection performance.

  • Proactively managing outstanding customer balances and recovering overdue debt.
  • Building positive relationships with customers to resolve payment delays, disputes, and account queries.
  • Prioritising aged debt and high‑risk accounts to maximise cash collection.
  • Working with third‑party debt recovery agencies and holding them accountable for performance.
  • Analysing debt trends and identifying the root causes behind overdue balances.
  • Partnering with Sales, Operations, Billing and Customer Service teams to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Producing insightful reporting on collections performance, aged debt and recovery activity.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce debt build‑up and improve cash conversion.
  • Supporting system, process and automation improvements that enhance efficiency and customer outcomes.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven Credit Control or Accounts Receivable experience with a strong track record of reducing aged debt and improving cash collections.
  • AAT qualified, studying towards ACCA/CIMA, or qualified through relevant experience.
  • Experience managing customer disputes, resolving complex account issues, and working to collection targets and KPIs.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends, solve problems, and drive process improvements.
  • Confident using Excel and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar.
  • Experience within a high‑volume environment and working with third‑party collection agencies would be advantageous.

About You

  • Takes ownership and follows through.
  • Enjoys delivering measurable results.
  • Is confident having challenging conversations when needed.
  • Has a naturally analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
  • Builds strong relationships across different teams.
  • Thrives in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven environment.
  • Holds Excel experience.
  • Is passionate about improving processes and finding better ways of working.

Benefits

  • Time to recharge - 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Supporting you on the move - £4,000 car allowance to support travel where required.
  • Recognising your impact - Opportunity to earn a yearly bonus of up to £500.
  • Healthcare when it matters - Private medical cover for you.
  • Planning for your future - 4% matched pension contribution to help you build long‑term financial security.
  • Peace of mind - Life assurance cover at 2x your salary.
  • Support when you need it - Access to a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, occupational health services and confidential counselling.
  • Developing your potential - Ongoing development opportunities, including apprenticeships and clear career progression pathways.
  • Everyday savings and perks - Access to My Staff Shop, our employee rewards platform, offering savings across high street and online retailers, alongside eye‑care support, flu jabs and additional lifestyle discounts.
