We are growing and expanding our team, and this is a pivotal role to shape how we scale. This role is in a category‑defining probate service that delivers a clearer, faster experience for families, supported by strong legal expertise and the operational discipline of a modern tech‑enabled business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and develop the Application Team, ensuring high performance and progression
- Own delivery against the 30‑day application SLA and monitor performance metrics
- Sign off high volumes of probate applications, ensuring compliance with legal and registry requirements
- Design and continuously improve the application process, remove bottlenecks and reduce errors
- Manage handovers between Onboarding and Estate Administration to ensure a seamless customer journey
- Build and maintain data systems to track progress, registry response times and rejection rates
- Work with product and technology teams to automate manual steps and improve online submissions
- Coach and develop team members, including creating opportunities for rotation across the probate journey
- Report on performance, quality and registry trends to senior leadership
Who We’re Looking For
- You are a qualified lawyer with extensive experience preparing and submitting probate applications, particularly through the online probate service.
- Deep knowledge of the Grant of Probate process, HMRC requirements and common registry queries
- Confidence signing off high volumes of applications with exceptional attention to detail
- A passion for quality, efficiency and getting things right first time
- Experience leading and developing teams in a legal or operational environment
- The ability to build processes, structure and clarity in a fast‑growing organisation
- Strong communication skills, able to translate legal requirements for non‑lawyers and collaborate across teams
