Full-time, Permanent | Maidenhead (Hybrid) | Up to £60,000 per annum
Join the UK's fastest-growing probate business. At Dignity Legal Services (formerly Farewill Probate), we're combining technology, compassion and serious legal expertise to reshape the probate industry. In the last 12 months, we've grown from a team of 2 to 32 - and we're still at the very beginning. We're building a category-defining probate business: one that delivers a radically better experience for families, while scaling with the rigour of a modern tech company.
This is a rare moment to join - not as a passenger, but as a key part of what we're building.
Why This Role Is Different:
Most law firms move slowly, relying on legacy systems and cumbersome processes. At Dignity, we're deliberately building something different - investing in technology and smarter ways of working so our team can focus on the work that really matters.
You will support the end-to-end delivery of probate for thousands of clients each year, while working closely with product, technology and operations to continuously improve how we scale. All of this sits within a team that's collaborative, fast-moving and genuinely motivated by making a difference for the families we serve.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Supporting with a varied caseload of probate and estate administration matters, from simple through to high-value and complex.
- Communicating directly with clients as we take them through the process, setting clear expectations and delivering a world-class service.
- Drafting and reviewing legal documents: IHT forms, grant applications, estate accounts.
- Ensuring compliance with probate law, SRA regulations and internal governance.
- Mentoring our apprentices, administrators and paralegals.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with product, tech and customer service to improve service delivery.
- Leading or contributing to process-improvement initiatives, including legal-tech and AI integration.
- Representing the legal team in cross-departmental projects and client escalations.
Who We're Looking For:
You're a qualified Solicitor, Paralegal or Chartered Legal Executive with solid experience in probate. You're comfortable managing complex cases independently, and you're energised - not daunted - by the idea of working in a business that's still evolving. You communicate with confidence and empathy in equal measure. You understand that behind every file, a family is navigating one of the most difficult periods of their lives.
If you're the kind of person who wants to look back in five years and say, 'I helped build that', we'd like to hear from you.
What We Offer:
- Annual salary of up to £60,000 depending on experience
- 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
- X2 Life Assurance, Pension Scheme
- Hybrid flexible working (3 days in our Maidenhead office)
- Genuine career progression and mentorship opportunities
- A chance to make a meaningful contribution to people's lives and deaths
About us:
It's inevitable that all of us are going to deal with death at some time in our lives. It's a fundamental, tragic part of what it is to be human. But the services that should be supporting us haven't changed in decades. From writing your will to planning a funeral or organising probate, the way we deal with death can be complicated and expensive. Instead of feeling supported, people feel lost. But it doesn't need to be this way. We started Farewill to make the experience warmer, brighter, and friendlier. Now we're the UK's top rated probate provider and help our customers pledge over £300 million to charities through gifts left in their wills.
We've also joined the Dignity Group - one of the major providers of funeral services in the UK. Together, we're on a mission to change the way the world deals with death. It's no small task - and we're looking for a Probate Solicitor to help us do it. This role is working in an SRA regulated legal practice to provide probate and estate administration services.
We are Dignity, one of the UK's oldest and most trusted funeral providers, with over 200 years of history, 570 branches, and 46 crematoria. From launching the UK's first funeral plan to helping shape modern regulation, we have led the way in supporting families with care, compassion, and professionalism. Now we are building the UK's leading end of life company. As part of the Dignity Group, we also operate Farewill, the country's largest will writer and one of the UK's top probate providers, giving families support not just at the funeral, but before and after as well. Today, we are over 4,000 people across the UK, all driven by the same goal: to care for families with compassion and make the UK a world leader in end-of-life care.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement:
We know that diverse teams make better decisions, build better products, and create a better place to work. Whoever you are, wherever you're from, and whatever your life looks like, we'd love to hear from you. And if there's anything you need to make the process more accessible, please let us know.
Any unsolicited submissions from agencies will be accepted as a direct application from the candidate and no fees will be payable. We reserve the right depending on application numbers to close or extend the closing dates for positions; we would therefore recommend an early application.
