We are now looking for a Director of Legal & Company Secretary, a strategic leadership role at the heart of our mission. This is an opportunity to join a business with real purpose and play a key role in safeguarding our legal and regulatory standing while enabling confident, transparent decision-making across the organisation.
You'll lead the delivery of expert legal counsel and corporate governance across Dignity's operations, supporting the Board, Executive Directors, and wider Group functions. From commercial contracts and regulatory compliance to data protection and Board support, you'll ensure our legal frameworks are robust, proportionate, and aligned with our values.
You'll also serve as Company Secretary, overseeing governance structures, filings, and committee support, helping us maintain clarity, accountability, and trust at every level.
- Leading the Legal and Company Secretarial function, covering property, commercial, regulatory, governance, and compliance.
- Providing pragmatic, business-focused legal advice across contracts, disputes, and strategic matters.
- Supporting the Board and Committees with governance, documentation, and meeting preparation.
- Overseeing data protection and GDPR compliance, including training and risk mitigation.
- Managing relationships with external law firms, auditors, and regulatory bodies (FCA, CMA).
- Administering insurance portfolios including Employer Liability, Personal Injury, and Public Liability.
- Leading and mentoring a high-performing legal and governance team.
Significant post-qualification experience in commercial law, ideally within financial services or regulated sectors. Proven Company Secretary experience, supporting Boards and Committees with governance and compliance. Strong background in data protection and GDPR, with practical implementation experience. Experience managing insurance portfolios and supporting compliance functions. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance.
