About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and organised Cemetery Consultant to support families and funeral professionals through the process of purchasing and using burial plots. This is a meaningful role where you will provide guidance at sensitive times, ensuring every interaction is handled with professionalism, empathy and attention to detail. You will work closely with families, funeral directors, grounds teams and memorial suppliers to ensure burials and related administrative processes run smoothly, respectfully, and in full compliance with operational and regulatory standards.
What You'll Be Doing
- Client Engagement & Support
- Guide families through burial plot options and requirements.
- Attend appointments with families and funeral directors to answer questions and offer support.
- Process payments and complete all associated deeds and documentation.
- Follow up with families after the burial regarding memorialisation opportunities.
- Check grave plots ahead of interments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Work closely with site teams to confirm burial arrangements and maintain clear communication.
- Update cemetery maps, ledgers and records following plot purchases and interments.
- Ensure all documentation meets legal and internal standards.
- Maintain high-quality, accurate administrative processes to support compliance and customer confidence.
- Conduct memorial appointments, completing quotes, orders and payment forms.
- Provide guidance on memorial styles, wording and additional products.
- Liaise with suppliers to support smooth order processing and customer satisfaction.
About You
This role would suit someone who is:
- Compassionate, empathetic and comfortable supporting bereaved families.
- Holds a sales background.
- Ideally holds demonstrable knowledge of cemeteries (preferable).
- ICCM Qualified (Desirable).
- Confident when engaging with customers and funeral professionals.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and pride in accurate record-keeping.
- A clear communicator able to explain options and processes sensitively.
- A collaborative team player who can work effectively with grounds teams, site leadership and external suppliers.
What You'll Bring
- Experience in a customer-facing role, ideally within bereavement services, cemeteries, memorials or another sensitive environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with high emotional intelligence.
- Good administrative capability and confidence using IT systems.
- Ability to manage appointments, payments and records in a structured, compliant manner.
- Experience handling financial transactions and customer documentation.
- Willingness to learn cemetery regulations, burial practices and memorial processes.
