Our Embalmers play a crucial role in our Funeral Directors by providing expert care and preparation of deceased individuals for visitation, burial, or cremation. As an Embalmer, you will uphold our commitment to dignity and respect while ensuring that every aspect of the embalming process is conducted with precision and care.
We expect you to be a professional in your industry, holding your certification with the British Institute of Embalmers (BIE) and have varied experience in caring for the deceased and leading by best-in-practice procedures. You will be based within our E.H Crouch Brands serving our communities across the Hertfordshire area.
This role will suit someone who:
- Has gained or is working towards the British Institute of Embalmers (BIE) Diploma with previous experience in embalming.
- Holds a Full UK Manual Driving License.
- Demonstrates proficiency in embalming techniques ensuring the best standards of preparation and presentation of the deceased.
- Is physically able to lift and carry heavy weights in accordance with manual handling procedures.
- Has strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to service families during difficult times.
The daily duties will consist of:
- Performing embalming procedures with precision and care, ensuring that each individual is respectfully prepared for their final journey.
- Collaborating closely with Funeral Directors to understand the unique needs and wishes of each family, providing personalised services that reflect their preferences and cultural traditions.
- Maintaining accurate records of all embalming procedures as well as ensuring all working practices, facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standard.
- Fully complying with Dignity's Internal Procedures and NAFD Code of Practice ensuring approved materials and chemicals are used appropriately in accordance with COSHH Regulations.
- Collaborating with other members of the Funeral Team to ensure that all aspects of funeral services are coordinated seamlessly.
We are an agile team; to meet the needs of our customers requires us to be mobile and flexible, therefore you are likely to be asked to work across different locations in the local area when required based on operational needs.
