The Senior Medical Copywriter I is a trusted figure in the copywriting team, responsible for helping clients and colleagues navigate the maze of scientific language to find the compelling human truths at the centre. In this role, you will be called on to pick apart a scientific paper and to translate data and academia-speak for a range of audiences. Once you've turned the science into persuasive, emotive copy, you'll be able to reference it solidly enough to survive contact with even the strictest medical review. Our work ranges from print to social and web communications all the way through to digital products, machine learning, or AR/VR. We aim to give you the opportunities and skills to create content for all these channels. We're always trying to make something new, so every job will present unanticipated technical challenges and questions - we want you to be one of the people suggesting the answers. Finally, our work is all aimed at real people, dealing with real conditions, whose lives are influenced for better or worse by what we produce. You'll know how to talk to them in their language. Whether presenting to clients, writing for patients, or collaborating with colleagues, you'll know the right way to phrase your point to get the desired results.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates best practice in the medical copywriting team
- Comfortably writes persuasive copy for multiple formats, channels, and audiences
- Establishes strong relationships with client teams and account leads
- Leads medical-related discussions with clients and colleagues with support from senior peers where needed
- Works with copywriters, art directors, and designers to ensure medical and creative alignment
- Checks the work and mentors junior/mid-level members of the medical copywriting team
- Understands brand strategy and ensures it is clearly and cohesively applied across materials
- Maintains a profile as an expert in 1-2 or more assigned brands/therapy areas
Qualifications:
- A scientific degree
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Significant proven experience in a Medical Copywriting role
- Healthcare advertising experience is essential
- A thorough understanding of the ABPI code of practice
- A creative writer with experience writing to creative themes
