Overview
As Strategy Director (Primary Care) you will be in a client-dedicated role within a team focused on supporting our clients’ marketing transformation, and driving their commercial impact. In this role, you will be a strategy leader within a globally-connected agency team with a focus on a specific set of brands. You will also be part of vibrant and ambitious strategic communities within Digitas Health London, Publicis Health UK and Publicis Groupe.
Responsibilities
- Leveraging your understanding of how brands grow, you will act as a consultant and guide to client brand teams, confidently challenging their business and activation plans to help drive results.
- Guide and develop commercial, brand and customer strategies for assigned brands, as well as comms plans and integrated paid/owned/earned strategies that deliver a connected experience and value to audiences and brands.
- Help your clients deliver increasingly sophisticated campaign and communication strategies to reach/engage mass audiences as well as specialist HCPs, helping them with category creation, stakeholder activation and commercial effectiveness.
- Work with data strategy teams to develop increasingly precise audience strategies to deliver against clear commercial goals.
- Demonstrate expertise in DTC campaigns as well as patient/public awareness and activation strategy; take a hands-on role in campaign strategy development whilst building strong partnerships with media and data partners.
- Build strong client partnerships, and lead across a range of strategic planning activities – annual brand planning; promotional campaign strategy; omnichannel communication strategy; CX engagement strategy.
- Understand and apply strategic planning frameworks to your brands, connecting global, regional and local strategies and supporting international re-use of global materials to drive local performance.
- Work effectively in a complex matrix environment, bringing the right people to the table at the right moment, creating cross-functional working teams and project plans to answer tricky business issues, and deliver strategic responses to clients that are easy, elegant and well-told. Includes working across regional and/or local projects and initiatives.
- Work in partnership with senior strategic leaders across Commercial, Data, Science, Paid Media and Earned Media disciplines, leveraging client-dedicated capabilities and frameworks to drive brand impact.
- Become the trusted strategic sounding board and go-to partner for agency and client teams.
- In partnership with teams, provide analysis of large quantities of information and organize that information into easy to understand insights and evidence that is useful to clients and agency teams.
- Develop creative briefs to inform creative solutioning and ideation, and partner with creative leads to enable high-impact creativity. Drive creative effectiveness and show an ability to partner with creative to find new and innovative creative ideas to work across multiple markets, with proven impact.
- Define KPIs for clients including test-and-learn/optimisation recommendations based on your strategy, expertise and past experience.
- Structure and lead workshops with cross-functional teams, creating project plans with clear deliverables and outputs.
- Guide and oversee the output of other strategists working on assigned brands.
- Understand how to delegate and involve mid- and junior-level strategy team members in your projects as a way to develop their skills and increase team capacity.
- Partner with PM and CS teams to plan projects, and show strong time awareness and time management skills.
Qualifications
You are an experienced strategist who understands how to develop marketing, comms and CX strategies for pharmaceutical brands: demonstrating understanding of growth drivers, applying innovative approaches to audience insight and engagement, and being comfortable with revenue and forecasting analysis. You are an insatiably curious knowledge gatherer who will lead and drive strategy development, and partner with client and agency teams to help grow our clients’ business through effective marketing and communication.
You will identify the key marketing levers and ensure clear business storytelling. You will build the trust of clients at multiple levels, be a partner in building growth plans, and proactively tackle knotty strategic issues. You will identify the key business questions and partner with data teams to answer the ones that matter most. You will translate brand strategies into engagement plans that deliver commercial impact. You will bring real CX/iPOE expertise to your clients and the team.
The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial leader, comfortable working with ambiguity and in grey areas, and enjoys being at the intersection of media, data, technology, and creativity. They work well in a team but also enjoy individual responsibility. They are looking to create a strong, unique impression within client and agency teams.
Specific requirements include:
- Proven Pharma experience at both the consumer and HCP level.
- Extensive strategy and/or planning experience, covering commercial, brand and CX. Specific expertise in integrated CX/campaign planning.
- Experienced with quant and qual insights, able to analyse research and analytics and drawing out customer insights.
- Strong primary care / general medicine experience, ideally including vaccines.
- Well experienced at using insight tools and platforms; familiar with commercial strategy frameworks to lead business approaches on assigned brands.
- Confident writing strong creative briefs and partnering with creative teams.
- Analytical and able to work in a data-driven environment. Able to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations.
- Experience working on multiple workstreams with a familiarity and comfort working within an agile environment.
- Preferably you have worked in a matrix organization across network agencies, helping remote-based clients and worked across regional-to-local tiers.
- Comfort developing commercial and brand plans, and a deep understanding of clients’ goals and revenue ambitions.
- Vocal and assertive, while working collaboratively with internal and external agency partners.
- English-language proficient, with ability to work closely with team members across geographies and time zones.
- Excellence in presentation skills, distillation of complex data, strategic story-telling and clarity of thought.
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills.
