We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Head of English to join our team for 12 months. You will lead and manage the English department to ensure high-quality teaching, effective resource use, and improved learning outcomes for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead the English curriculum for all pupils.
- Create a motivating learning environment with well-organized resources.
- Prepare students for 11+ exams and run extra sessions as needed.
- Maintain detailed records and liaise with the Headmistress regularly.
- Identify and support pupils with additional needs or those who require extension activities.
- Promote English through extra-curricular activities like book fairs and World Book Day events.
- Manage the department’s budget and use IT for lesson preparation and reporting.

- Builds positive relationships with staff, pupils, and parents.
- Plans and delivers engaging, innovative lessons.
General Responsibilities:
- Promote high-quality teaching, learning, and pastoral care.
- Write academic reports and monitor pupils’ progress.
- Attend staff meetings and undertake supervisory duties.
- Comply with health and safety standards.
