About the Role
We’re seeking a hybrid Project & Product Managerto join our digital publishing team. This is a cross-functional role that combines strategic product ownership with day-to-day delivery management. You’ll be responsible for developing our product vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment across editorial and commercial priorities, and managing the delivery of work through the engineering team.
You’ll be at the centre of product strategy, delivery planning, and stakeholder coordination – translating goals into actionable tasks, tracking progress, and driving product growth across our high-traffic WordPress-based platforms.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Define and communicate the product vision and roadmap for our digital publishing properties.
- Work with editorial, commercial, and senior leadership to gather insights and prioritise initiatives.
- Translate business and editorial needs into clear product requirements and development tasks.
- Manage the engineering team’s sprint process – leading daily standups, planning sessions, and retrospectives.
- Maintain a prioritised and well-documented backlog that reflects both strategic objectives and short-term needs.
- Monitor team capacity, delivery timelines, and blockers, ensuring steady progress and clear visibility.
- Analyse product performance using analytics tools to inform decisions and refine direction.
- Balance longer-term roadmap features with ad hoc requests from editorial and commercial stakeholders.
- Advocate for strong UX, accessibility, site performance, and SEO in all product decisions.
- Stay informed on developments in digital media, content management, ad tech, and publishing platforms.
- Own and improve project management tooling and processes (currently Jira).
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in either product management, project management, or both – ideally in a content-led B2C environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives across teams.
- Strong understanding of digital publishing workflows and the intersection of editorial, UX, SEO, and monetisation.
- Confident facilitating standups, sprint ceremonies, and stakeholder discussions.
- Familiarity with web development concepts and working directly with engineers.
- Comfortable using data and analytics tools to support decision-making and monitor performance.
- Excellent communication skills – able to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience using Jira or similar project/product management platforms.
Desirable
- Prior experience in digital publishing, media, or editorial environments.
- Understanding of WordPress – including its limitations and strengths as a CMS.
- Exposure to A/B testing, SEO optimisation, or advertising technologies.
- Familiarity with developer workflows (e.g. Git, CI/CD, staging environments).
- Ability to write clear documentation, product briefs, and internal updates.
